What a beautiful chateau...looks like it should be in the Loire valley. The family still owned it until recently, when they donated it to a trust. It is also beautifully furnished. They said the people of the village loved the family so much, they didn't force them into exile during the revolution!

Tuesday - Jardins de Manoir d'Eyrignac

Today we visited the beautiful gardens of this manor house. The owners still live in the house. I love this pool. Will my backyard ever look like this? I can try...

Monday - Grotte de Rouffignac

After the museum, we visited the Rouffignac caverns and toured by a train that covers 5 miles
Of caverns. We saw real drawings made 10 - 15,000 years ago - some made with a black stone (maganese dioxide) and others etched in the stone. Forgot to take any photos of the entrace. Photos forbidden on the inside.

Monday - can you pick out the Neanderthal?

Monday at the Museum of Prehistory

Today, Harry, Ken, and I visited Les Eyzies and the prehistory museum. It was awesome! There were skeletons over 15 - 20 ,000 years old ( modern human and neanderthal) and many artifacts of stone and bone. The 3 Rd level of the museum opened into the middle of a high cliff. The view was spectacular!

Tuesday - wifi down at Hotel du Chateau Beynac

We came to McDonald's at Sarlat and found reliable wifi. Here's Ken with his new authentic Basque beret. I'm sipping a noisette and waiting for my laundry to finish at the laundry mat.

Village in the Pyrennees where we ate lunch. We were not brave enough to go higher than this, but Robert's group did!

Bayonne looks a lot like Tours in this area - the bridge over le fleuve ??.

Très très jolie! The water is azure - the sky is dark blue - there is a light breeze, even though it's a warm day. This photo of a small corner of the beach doesn't do it justice.

Fwd: Day 1 - Off to a slow start

With the tropical storm coming up from the south, we were advised to change our flight to an earlier one.  But, our new plane was delayed due to mechanical difficulties.  We kept up our positive attitude and all other connections went smoothly.
